Kayaking Trips
Learning to Kayak
We're new to kayaking and are learning as we go. After participating in a few paddling sessions at campgrounds, we quickly realized it was something we wanted to pursue further. Before investing in hard shell kayaks and a roof rack, we decided to start with two inflatable kayaks to make sure we truly enjoyed the sport.
Our ultimate goal is kayak camping; loading up our gear, paddling across a lake or down a river, and finding a campsite that can only be reached by water. There's something appealing about exploring at a slower pace and escaping the crowds, preferably without having to dodge too many power boats along the way.
This page serves as our kayaking field journal. Here you'll find trip reports, photos, wildlife encounters, campsite notes, and the gear we used on each adventure. As we gain experience, we'll continue sharing what works, what doesn't, and the places that keep calling us back for another paddle.
