Hammock Friendly Campsites
Hammock Friendly Campsites
Hammock camping is our favorite way to camp. We sleep better off the ground, enjoy gently swaying in the breeze, and love waking up surrounded by nature. Whenever possible, we look for campsites with good tree spacing, privacy, and natural surroundings that make for an ideal hammock setup.
Unfortunately, we've learned that photos can be deceiving. Many campsites that appeared hammock friendly in pictures either lacked suitable trees or had terrain, brush, or obstacles that made hanging a hammock difficult or impossible. Because of this, we always bring our hammock stands as a backup plan.
We both use Haven hammocks, I sleep in the Haven XL, while my husband uses the Haven Spectre. When stands are needed, we both use the Haven Hammock Stand.
Finding a great hammock campsite can be hit or miss, which is why we created this page. If you're hammock camping in Tennessee or Kentucky, we hope our experiences help you discover a new hammock friendly destination.
Just remember that campsites can change overnight. Floods, tornadoes, storms, fallen trees, and other natural events can dramatically alter a site or even make it disappear entirely.
RIP The Slab. We miss you. Even your webpage is gone.
