Season: Mid-July (93°F, very humid)
Noise: Extremely quiet. During the day we occasionally heard boats on the nearby Tennessee River. At night there was no human noise.
Wildlife: Wonderful chorus of katydids and a variety of frogs throughout the night, along with occasional fish splashes, ducks, and other mysterious water sounds.
Mosquitoes & Ticks: No ticks during our visit, but definitely bring bug spray for mosquitoes and no-see-ums.
Hammock Friendly: Yes. We were able to hang two hammocks directly over the creek bank, but bring a stand if your group has more than two hammocks.
Tents: Plenty of level ground with no rocks.
Camp Cooking: The site has a fire ring, which my husband used. I cooked with my Trangia stove using a 27-gram solid fuel tablet to boil water for ramen and a 6-gram tablet for my morning coffee.
Additional Notes: The campsite is surrounded by soybean fields, making it feel very secluded. We also visited the four riverfront campsites. They sit directly on the Tennessee River, appeared to have good privacy, and each had its own fire ring.
