Lionsgate Campground Creekside #1, Bon Aqua Junction, TN
We had a wonderful overnight stay at Lionsgate Campground in Lyles, Tennessee, about an hour from Nashville. Accessing the campsite requires driving through a shallow creek, which adds to the adventure. When entering and leaving, be aware of a large rock in the creek near the campsite side that is is about the size and shape of a curb. I hit it a little harder than I intended, (sorry car) so take it slow.
The campsite sits directly along a beautiful creek surrounded by wildflowers and several small waterfalls. The setting is incredibly scenic, and the site itself is well equipped with marble countertops and a large fire pit. We purchased a bundle of firewood and received plenty to last the evening.
While the campsite is beautiful, future guests should be aware that it sits alongside a dirt road that receives a fair amount of traffic. Throughout Saturday, there were regular cars, trucks, and several ATVs passing by, making the area noticeably noisier than we expected. In addition, a nearby dog barked almost continuously from late afternoon until around midnight. The noise carried easily through our tent and made it difficult to sleep.
Neither of these issues is the fault of the host, but they are worth mentioning so future campers know what they might experience.
Once the dog finally settled down, the natural sounds returned. We listened to the gentle creek, owls, frogs, and crickets throughout the night, and I believe a deer even wandered through our campsite.
Overall, this is a beautiful creekside campground that works well for both tents and hammocks, and despite the noise, I would still recommend it to campers looking for a scenic place to spend a night outdoors.
