HipCamp 'Echo Point', Dunlap, TN

🌳 Hammock Friendly: Yes
🔥 Campfire Friendly: Yes

This secluded campsite is reached by a four-mile gravel road that was easy to navigate. No four-wheel drive was needed, and my Kia Soul handled the drive without any issues. After arriving, you close the gate behind you and take a short 0.17-mile walk to the campsite.

The camping area is tucked away in the woods beside a beautiful creek. There are two separate camping spots connected by a short trail, giving campers a little extra privacy. Each site includes a fire pit and a wooden tent platform.

As hammock campers, we spent some time looking for trees with the right spacing for our setup. We use an Amok Draumr 5.0 and a Haven XL, and we found a pair of suitable trees near the campsite with the fire pit that does not have a grill. Campers using traditional gathered-end hammocks will likely have more options available.

The sounds of owls and coyotes made for a memorable evening. During the day, we did hear a steady stream of ATVs traveling along the nearby road. We visited on a Saturday, so that may have contributed to the activity level. Future campers may have a different experience, but it is something worth noting. The ATV traffic is outside the host’s control and may not be an issue during every visit.

Overall, we had an amazing stay. The combination of a secluded creekside setting, wooded surroundings, and abundant wildlife sounds made for a memorable night outdoors.
