Bledsoe Creek State Park
Bledsoe Creek SP Hammock Only Site #3
Bledsoe Creek State Park's Hammock Camping Area is our favorite hammock and kayak campsite in Tennessee. We stayed at sites 1, 2, and 3 and they are all fantastic, but we think site #3 is the best. All sites feature large, open campsites located right on the shoreline of Old Hickory Lake near the boat launch area.
These sites are designed specifically for hammock only campers (NO tents allowed), with plenty of well-spaced trees for hanging and no tent pads. There are only three hammock-only campsites, each with its own reserved parking space, providing a quieter experience than the main campground. All 3 sites include a fire pit, picnic table, and plenty of room to spread out.
For kayakers, the location is hard to beat. We were able to keep our kayaks right at the campsite and carry them roughly 100 feet to the launch. The boat launch parking area closes at night, making the shoreline much quieter after the daytime boat traffic leaves.
A hiking trail runs adjacent to the campsite, making it easy to combine paddling and hiking during your stay.
One of the highlights of this area is the wildlife. Deer are everywhere and seem completely unbothered by people, often grazing near the campsite or along the trails. At night, the park comes alive with the sounds of owls. We've heard more owls here than at almost any other campsite we've visited, and their calls echo across the lake after dark.
If you enjoy hammock camping, kayaking, hiking, and abundant wildlife, this is one of the best campsites we've found and a place we return to again and again. Of all the places we've camped, this remains our favorite hammock kayaking campsite in Tennessee.
