Campsite
- Hammock-Only Camping Area Site #3
- Plenty of trees for hanging hammocks of different sizes.
- Firepit with grate, wooden picnic table.
- Launching a kayak is easy, water is just feet away
Wildlife
- Deer feeding and walking along the shoreline and close to camp.
- Ducks and various water birds on the lake.
- Three different Great Blue Herons observed during the trip, one heron spent time hunting near the boat ramp.
- Fish regularly broke the surface of the water.
Birds & Sounds
- Songbirds calling throughout the day.
- Gentle summer cicadas singing during the afternoon.
- Owls calling after dark.
- Frogs active throughout the evening.
Evening
- Fireflies appeared after sunset.
- We sat around the campfire listening to the nighttime sounds.
- The campground became very peaceful once darkness settled in.
Morning
- Beautiful sunrise over the lake.
- Calm and quiet before the rest of the campground woke up.
- One of our favorite sunrise locations.
- Less than an hour from Nashville, making it an easy overnight trip from home.
Campground Notes
- A park ranger spent part of the day reminding visitors that swimming is not permitted in the lake.
- There were occasional periods of music from nearby campers during the day.
- Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM.
- Once quiet hours started, the campground became completely silent.
- No noticeable vehicle noise, dogs, children, or loud campers after 10:00 PM.
- The park rangers did an excellent job keeping the campground peaceful and enjoyable for everyone.
