Rum Creek Cattle Farm, Sparta, TN
HipCamp Rum Creek Cattle Farm
We took advantage of an unusually warm December day and spent the night at one of our favorite farms. We love this property for its old-growth trees, historic barn, free-ranging chickens, and friendly horses. The farm has a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy being outdoors.
That evening we listened to coyotes, owls, and a few frogs calling in the distance. As a special bonus, a deer quietly wandered past my tent during the night, making the experience feel even more connected to nature.
One of the highlights of this HipCamp is the host, Frank. He is incredibly friendly, responsive, and clearly takes great pride in caring for his land. It’s always a pleasure to visit with him, and his dedication to the property shows in every detail. We always enjoy our stays here and look forward to returning in the spring and summer.
We’ve camped here twice now. During our second visit, the lower pasture was open, allowing us to hang our hammocks between two suitable trees. However, access to that area may vary, so hammock campers should not count on having trees available and may want to bring a stand or backup shelter option.
