Cotton Landing Campground and kayak to Cypress Springs
Cotton Landing Campground and Kayaking to Cypress Springs
This is an excellent campsite for anyone planning to kayak to Cypress Springs. The launch area is just a short and easy carry from the campsite to the river, making it a convenient basecamp for exploring the area. The campsite is free, but reservations are required.
There is a porta-potty available on site, though I prefer bringing my portable shower tent with a toilet seat and wag bags for added comfort and privacy. One of the unexpected charms of the campground is the small group of cats that live nearby. They tend to watch visitors from a distance, and during our stay a local woman stopped by to feed them.
The area is also a haven for bird lovers—we saw and heard numerous woodpeckers throughout the day. The campground has only three sites, so it feels quiet and uncrowded. A covered picnic table provides a nice place to cook, eat, or relax out of the sun. We stayed at Site #1 and found it to be a great base for our kayaking adventure.
